Jon Foley Sherman

Jon Foley Sherman is a scholar, performer, teacher, and director. Jon’s articles on contemporary theatre and dance appear in Performance Research, New Theatre Quarterly, and Theatre Topics, and his book and performance reviews have been published in TDR: The Drama Review and Theatre Journal. He is currently developing a project on the performance of silence in the life and work of Albert Camus. An award-winning actor and deviser, Jon was one of Jacques Lecoq’s last students and has performed and directed in New York, Washington, DC, Switzerland, and Chicago, including work at Arena Stage, the Atlantic Theatre, and as Assistant Director for Mary Zimmerman at the Goodman. He is the co-founder of Sprung Movement Theatre and artistic director of Elbow Room Performance, whose first collaboration premiered at the 2012 Live Arts Festival in Philadelphia.
