I'm a native Angeleno (somewhat of a rarity, so I hear) having been born in Encino and growing up in Hermosa Beach, CA. I spent a large part of my career as Marketing Director for the LA Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena (1995-2014), where I had occasion to market a wide variety of sporting and entertainment events. As well, I had the opportunity to manage some of the biggest and most high-profile shows to take place in the Los Angeles area, including L.A. Rising, Roger Waters' "The Wall" performance at the Coliseum, the annual KCON Convention and Concert and quite a few others. Good times, for the most part. Now that I'm plying my trade as a freelance copywriter and author (Jon F. Lee Marketing Communication Services), there are actual several facets to this stage of my career. I create marketing collateral and content for a variety of small and mid-sized businesses, produce quite a bit of non-fiction content for my own use and distribution (including E-books, of course) and do some voiceover work as well. My recent work also includes a feature/profile in Amplify Magazine on the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, my work 'home' for 19 years, scheduled for demolition after 57 years in business as of this writing. Bittersweet, for sure. ("Ode to a Building That Has Outlived Its Usefulness"). As an avid Do-It-Yourselfer, I have a keen interest in various facets of home improvement and automobile restoration. The DIY Sprinker Book (2014), for example, was the result of my own foray into designing and building a sprinkler system for my own home, then discovering that others wanted to give the process a try themselves, but would feel more confident if they had all the information they needed within easy access. I am thoroughly and unabashedly a NON-FICTION writer. Wish as I might that my imagination would bear fruit that could be put into words, it hasn't happened as yet, and I have good reason to believe it will stay that way. I DO however, enjoy research on a variety of subjects - physical fitness and training and various aspects of psychology being at the forefront. As a former competitive powerlifter, maximizing athletic performance has always been of interest. As you might also expect, in the aftermath of so many years under (relatively) heavy iron, minimizing injury and prolonging active years has become more of a priority. My future projects will include non-fiction work in these areas that I do hope will be of interest.
