Jose Sepulveda

Jose Sepulveda has a BFA in Drama and Education from the University of Puerto Rico. During his college years, he was a member of three different acting groups. In addition, he did some professional acting in theater, television, and film. After he graduated, he became a Drama teacher in public schools. Three years later, he moved to San Francisco to study for a master’s degree in Film and Television at the Academy of Art University. In graduate school, he wrote, produced, directed, and edited more than 10 student films. One of them, Assault, won the People’s Choice award at the 2005 Film Foundation Film Festival in Puerto Rico. Moreover, he wrote eight full-length screenplays. Jose Sepulveda produced and directed his first feature film, An American in Puerto Rico. This film was an official selection for the 2011 San Juan International Film Festival, the 2012 International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival, and the 2016 La Parguera Cinema Festival. Birth of a Black Nation is his first novel, based on his screenplay of the same name. His dream is to turn it into a movie.
