Joseph E. Fleckenstein graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He published a total of 37 items. The list includes 12 literary short stories and 11 short stories in popular magazines. He also published technical papers, online courses for registered professional engineers and in 2015 the 400 page technical book Three-Phase Electrical Power. He is the inventor or co-inventor of seven US patents and numerous foreign patents. While serving as a commissioned officer in the Corp of Engineers, he was commander of a platoon overseas. In the past he lived in Wisconsin, Ohio and Virginia. Currently he lives in Pennsylvania where he is a self employed engineer and freelance technical writer.
