Josh Chin is Deputy Bureau Chief in China for The Wall Street Journal. He previously covered politics in China for the newspaper for more than a decade. He is a recipient of the Dan Bolles Medal, awarded to investigative journalists who have exhibited courage in the face of intimidation, and led an investigative team that won the Gerald Loeb Award for international reporting in 2018. He has also been awarded two Human Rights Press Awards and an award for excellence in investigative reporting from the Society of Publishers in Asia. Josh was named a National Fellow at New America in 2020. The following year, he was among the first of more than a dozen American reporters to be expelled from China. He currently splits his time between Seoul and Taipei.
