Joyce Kamen is an Emmy award-winning writer, publicist, journalist, columnist, and producer of documentary films. Her books include the "Upstander Stories" series, profiling brave people who helped Jews during the Holocaust at great risk to their own lives. The series is illustrated by her high-school aged granddaughter, Lilly Wise, a talented artist since early childhood. Lilly is also the illustrator of "Manek and Hanna", which detailed the stories of two Holocaust survivors who live in Lilly's New Jersey community. The volume, "Can I Show You How My Eye Falls Out of My Head Doc?—Remarkable True Stories from an Unusual General Practice, was co-authored by Joyce and her physician father, Dr. Jack Kamen, about his zany experiences as a GP in 1950s East Chicago, Indiana. Now retired, Joyce enjoys being with her husband, kids, and grandkids along with bird-watching, beach-walking, antiquing, volunteering and helping young people learn how to be Upstanders.
