Juanita is a great-grandparent, who is still a kid at heart. She grew up on a remote island, in the North Atlantic Ocean, that during the winter, resembled the North Pole. She started writing stories and poetry when she was in grade one, the very same year she got into trouble for drawing art on a newly painted house. She is a survivor of child neglect and abuse, and after eight years was made a ward of the court. As a parent, she raised a little super hero with special needs. As a business owner, she worked with local school boards by training special needs school children, and young adults, in a work based environment. The most unusual thing she ever did was jump out of a perfectly good airplane. For decades she has rescued and handfed, many sick animals, including baby birds, a squirrel, and stray kittens. She lives at 'the jungle' in Southern California, with a bunch of dogs, some rescued cats, including a black one named Crowley and a Siamese named Pixi, who were once feral. Her front terrace is filled with fairy and angel decorations. Her back yard is a little Polynesian paradise with tiki thatched roofs. Under one of those roofs is a 24 foot aviary that houses 150 miniature 1-inch Australian and African finches. Juanita’s loves photography, creating music, writing lyrics and painting everything in sight. Her favorite tools are drills, hammers, and her 10-inch miter saw. Her favorite person for the past twenty-odd years, has been her soulmate, and husband, Scott Ray.
