Julia K. Briggs Moseley, a native and resident of Baltimore, MD, always had an interest in creative writing. But it was her love for storytelling combined with the eagerness to learn of ancient Africa that birthed her passion to start her series, titled Tales of the Ankh. She took everything that she learned from reading, talking to elders of African history, and stories passed down. She then turned them into her own tales of the struggle and triumph of a mystical people. Born into a world of chaos and orphaned at a young age, her childhood was a struggle until things started to work in her favor when she and her brother were placed with family. Here she learned the importance of family, love, and heritage. Also, the power of reading and storytelling. In this safe place, her imagination could soar. Growing up, Julia was always a kindred spirit with a thirst for knowledge. It is apparent through the different titles she holds. She has been a nurse, a chef, an aviation mechanic, a lab assistant for a biopharmaceutical company, and is stepping into entrepreneurship. Now she is spreading her love for learning about different cultures through the pages of her books. “I think of my stories as experiences,” Julia says. “Each moment you spend in Alkebulan, you will be captivated by the battles between the gods and creatures. Ensnared within the adventures of my characters and empowered by lessons passed down from the elders to the ones coming up.”
