Julie Hallman is a genuine “Southern Gal.” Born in Huntsville, Alabama while her Dad was in the Army, Julie loved and immersed herself in the Southern culture. Using her vocal talent, Julie started singing in the Glee Club in 6th grade and has continued singing throughout her life both for the group Sweet Adelines (women’s barbershop quartet) and in her church choir. Julie’s family moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where her love for her dad’s alma mater, the University of Tennessee, was nurtured and fed. With her life planned out in the south, Julie’s dad moved the family to Houston, Texas when she was in the eighth grade. She went away to college in San Marcos, Texas; and married by the end of her freshman year. Ten years later after her divorce, Julie moved back to Birmingham, Alabama where she still lives today. Julie met the love of her life a few years upon returning to the South. After 20 years of marital bliss, Mike would face the harsh realities of cancer and pass into Heaven in 2021. With the support of her parents who still live about 30 minutes away, her three adult children, Christopher, Stephanie, and Andrew, her 8 grandchildren, and her constant companions, George and Gracie, her beloved German Shepherds, Julie has forged a path ahead, relying on God each step of the way. Active in her church, First Baptist Church in Pelham, Julie felt the nudge of the Lord to write her story of how God’s fingerprint was evident in her life -- even IN the storm of divorce, single parenthood, and her husband’s battle with cancer. Julie’s story will encourage and give hope to her readers, reminding them that God is IN the storm and will bring them safely through it.
