You might think that living in tents and being on welfare would be the worst things in the world for a girl to grow up in. And certainly, there were days when K.R. Lilac wished she could feel safer. But two amazing things came out of these struggles: First, she discovered that her mum was a real-life superhero, raising four little kids all by herself with love and courage. Second, K.R. realized that sometimes the hardest things in life can bring the brightest gifts. Her gift was the gift of imagination, which whisked her away to magical lands and incredible adventures.
