Dr. Kam Ng has worked in acoustics and noise control engineering for the Navy and private sectors for over 40 years. Specifically, he has worked with aircraft engine noise, valve noise, submarine launcher noise, undersea weapons, fast supercavitating torpedo, active control of noise and vibration, and industrial noise control. He was the former Deputy Director of Research at the Office of Naval Research (ONR) overseeing $900M basic research portfolio with a wide spectrum of science and technology activities. He has published over 100 technical journal papers and conference papers, and held 8 patents in acoustics and noise control engineering. Dr. Ng received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, MBA from Marymount University, MA in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University, Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Bachelor of Engineering from The Cooper Union. Dr. Ng has taught mechanical/electrical engineering, acoustics and noise control fundamentals courses at Community College of Rhode Island, Catholic University of America, and East Coast Polytechnic Institute. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia. Kam promoted and supported STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), and STEAM (STEM combined with arts) initiatives. He pioneered STEAM effort in Southern Louisiana for minorities and girls while he was CEO at Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise.
