Karen B. Shea was raised in Illinois in a rural area west of Chicago. With its open prairies and muddy marshes, the natural world awakened her spirit and piqued her curiosity. It was here she found freedom and adventure in exploring the world around her. As she grew older, her love for nature continued to grow and Karen became even more committed and focused on protecting the natural world around her. Her professional career was as diverse as her interests, but eventually her focus turned towards writing. Her first children's book, "Clark the Mountain Beaver and His Big Adventure!", was inspired by a mountain beaver that was living under her feet, literally, and she never even knew it. The excitement that comes with discovering something new for the first time sparked the need to write in her. Her second book, "A Bug-Lightful Discovery", was inspired by her little neighbor after an encounter on her front porch with an alien-looking beetle. With the message "everything has a purpose whether we know it or not" as the grand theme, Karen hopes this message resinates with the young and young at heart. Karen's hope is to inspire children, and adults alike, to be curious about the animals that live along side of them, whether its a backyard, neighborhood park or in a tree down the street. Nature is all around us! Other books featuring the writings of Karen B. Shea include: Animals: Personal Tales of Encounters with Spirit Animals (Common Sentience) by Dr. Steven Farmer (Author) Nature: Divine Experiences with Trees, Plants, Stones and Landscapes (Common Sentience) by Ana Maria Vasquez (Author)
