Karen J. Hall

I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia; specifically in Carroll County and Wythe County. "You can take the girl out of the Mountains but you can't take the Mountains out of the Girl!" Currently I live in the Piedmont, North Carolina and travel to the mountains every chance possible. Look for me at festivals anywhere near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Airy, NC, Hillsville, VA, Galax, VA, and Wytheville, Va. Growing up spending quality time on the Parkway was the inspiration for both of my Parkway books. My first three books,published by Arcadia publishing,are books with historic photos and are not tour guides. Also written by Karen in the Images of America Series is "Wythe County, Virginia." My fourth book, "Granite Once and Forever!" was re-released in 2013. In the fall of 2013, the Society of North Carolina Historians gave me the Willie Parker Peace award for my work on this book. I feel very honored to have received this honor.
