Karl Malkoff (1938- ) was born in New York City. He was a Professor of English at City College of New York for 32 years, until 1998. His specialty was contemporary American poetry, but in mid-career, a trip to Greece turned into a fascination with the country and its culture. He taught in Athens for one year on a Fulbright grant in the mid-eighties, which confirmed his passion. Now retired, he lives in New York and Woodstock, and travels twice a year to Greece.
