Kate Kaplan

Kate Kaplan is Nielsen Norman Groups' Insights Architect. She is a distinguished user experience (UX) researcher and consultant who has built her career advising high-technology clients on building highly sophisticated digital products. With a talent for breaking down complex concepts into useful and understandable formats, many of Kate’s frameworks and publications have become industry-leading standards for topics spanning UX research, design, teams, and operations. For Kate, UX is the ultimate blend of experimentation, observation, and design. She gets to watch what people do and say for a living, and then translate those findings into guidelines for UX practitioners solving design challenges all over the world. Pretty wild. Kate holds an MS in Technical Communication with a concentration in Cognitive Science from NC State University. Her open, approachable demeanor and professional acumen make her a respected figure in the UX community and beyond. It’s a joy for her to conduct, analyze, and publish research for the UX community.
