Katherine Lile

Katherine Lile comes from a long line of women who have enjoyed quilting, sewing, and stitching with one another. After years of garment sewing and quilting, she began sewing rope as a “nap-time project” while staying home with her young children. Katherine and her family launched The Mountain Thread Company shop in 2015 when they left city life and moved back to their mountain hometown. Visitors to The Mountain Thread Company are invited into an open studio to learn rope basketry techniques, find custom rope basketry supplies, and observe a unique local craft experience. Katherine lives in the mountains of North Carolina with her husband and children and enjoys cooking and being outside.
