Kathleen Geiger is a retired third grade teacher from Grand Ridge School in Grand Ridge, Illinois. She lives outside the village on the family farm. She grew up on a farm near Alexis, Illinois attending Alexis schools and graduating from Western Illinois University. She later received her Master of Education from Olivet Nazarene University. She and her husband raised two sons who are now married and have families. Since retiring she enjoys babysitting her grandchildren, sewing, baking, and now writing. She was inspired to write her first book while she and her husband were sitting on their patio and saw six precious kittens pounce out of the garage. She wanted the story to teach a lesson. She enlisted the help of her granddaughters by giving them a choice of an animal they would like to have in the book. She neglected to say farm animal thus Malissa Giraffe came to being on the farm. Now Kathy had the lesson for her book - although we have differences; we can all learn to get along and enjoy one another. She also allowed each girl to choose the color of their animal, resulting in a purple kitten, blue bunny, and a hot pink giraffe. She has continued her quest adding An Adventure Awaits which also added new characters. Additionally she created her third book of the series with The Intruders. With her various experiences with children, she hopes to continue using these characters to teach lessons for both the young and the old. Her first book is dedicated to her husband Frank who developed kidney failure and was on dialysis prior to a kidney transplant in which Kathleen was the donor. She is therefore donating a portion of all of her sales to the National Kidney Foundation. Kathleen, AKA Bamma, has created stuffed animals and puppets of the characters to accompany her books.
