Kathleen Odegard is a wife, mom and grandmother. Once upon a time she was a pilot who flew in the Air Force and for American Airlines. The closest she gets to flying these days is riding at breakneck speed on early morning bike rides with her “0540 Bike Buddies”. Other interests include mountain hikes, dogs, gardening and tennis. And of course, chocolate, which goes with everything! The kids have left the nest, but she and her husband Keith, who is also an “0540 Bike Buddy”, live in St. Louis, MO. Her books include Life in the Logbook, Fly High & Free and Birds of a Feather Soar Together. Patti Frentzel illustrated Birds of a Feather Soar Together with original watercolor paintings. She is a St. Louis native whose love for art permeates every aspect of her life. She took her first art class at age 7 and now teaches at-home art classes for adults in her retirement. Patti taught art at summer camps, schools and studios, has painted murals, designed stage sets and done commissioned paintings. Patti is part of Monarch Jewelry, a non-profit with the goal of using individually crafted jewelry and art to increase awareness and raise funds to support the work of Crisis Aid International. Through this book, she is pursuing her dream of illustration so she can share her God-given talent with her grandkids and loved ones. Wes Murrell illustrated Fly HIgh & Free. He is a Mid-America Emmy-winning storyteller who spent nearly seven years working in reality TV and digital entertainment. He got his start in 2011 as an intern at World Events Productions working on Nicktoons’ Voltron Force. He later worked as a character designer and story artist for Dreamworks’ Toby McBeard at Coolfire Studios. Eventually, he rose to become a director of animation within the studio. He’s worked on non-scripted projects aired on Discovery, Syfy, Fox/ABC/NBC, BET, Style Network and Velocity.
