Kathleen Henschen is an educator of over 20 years at a United States public school. She teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) to many students who come to America from different parts of the world. They all come with unique stories of their homeland and culture. The author travels the world spending time with students of various cultures through volunteer work, language immersion, or cultural learning. Through simple enriching books, the she hopes to impart her experiences and introduce young learners to cultures of other countries with a goal of fostering cultural understanding. Kathleen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Life Span Developmental Psychology, and a Masters Degree in Teaching and Leadership. In graduate school, she spent most of her research on multicultural literature for children. As an immigrant herself, Kathleen brings a unique and relatable perspective in her writing. Her inspiration to write is drawn from her worldwide travels as she captures the essence of each place through children's point of view. She wrote her first book to be about her motherland, the Philippines and her second book about her first home in the United States, Rockford, Illinois.
