As a mom of two young boys, reading and 'bedtime books' are a big part of my life. Inspired by the childlike perspective that the everyday can be super exciting, I began writing children's books that capture just this essence: Make the 'everyday' feel extra fun. My books create the opportunity to engage and interact with children, while also offering subtle entertaining elements for the parents reading them. -- Graduating from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with an English Language & Literature/Communication Studies double-major, Katie has always found joy in writing and reading. Deciding to pursue a career in the fashion/apparel industry after college, Katie let go of her previous ambitions of being a journalist and focused instead on making her way up the "fashion ladder," going from steaming shirts to styling photo shoots. After 10 years in fashion, Katie switched industries and moved into Tech for 6 years, which ultimately landed her a victim of mass lay-offs. Finding herself with time during the now-vacant 'workday' (and now a mom of two young boys), Katie decided to begin her adventure as an author, writing her first book on her sons' beloved fascination: The Garbage Truck. A newfound passion was discovered and Katie has set her mind and free time to creating children's books ever since. Originally from downtown Chicago, Katie now resides in Los Angeles with her husband and two sons.
