
Kaylon Bruner Tran grew up in Grenada, Mississippi. She attended Delta State University, graduating with B.S. degrees in Biology and Chemistry and a minor in Theatre. After working a few years, she went back to school, earning a PhD in Reproductive Pathology from Vanderbilt University. She completed a fellowship at Thomas Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia and then returned to Vanderbilt where she maintains an active medical research laboratory. Her research studies focus on the generational effects of maternal or paternal toxicant exposures. Throughout her career, Kaylon has felt a strong desire to connect the lay public with the research community. She has frequently spoken at high schools to share information regarding careers in science as well as with advocacy groups in support of Vietnam Veterans and women with endometriosis. In addition to her scientific endeavors, Kaylon has always enjoyed writing. She has published numerous scientific papers and book chapters as well as several non-fiction essays. Her first novel, Time Intertwined, received the Literary Titan Gold Award for historical fiction.
