Kelli Martin has spent 30 years working in the criminal justice system and holds degrees in psychology, criminology & criminal justice. She began her career as an adult probation officer and worked her way through the ranks to executive-level management. Throughout her career she held various positions including court officer, pre-sentence investigation officer, specialized sex offender officer, training officer, specialized substance abuse officer, and more. She supervised the Sex Crimes Unit and was the Training Academy Director for the 4th largest adult probation department in the state of Texas, and since 2011 has been a Criminologist and Research & Policy Planner. Kelli has also taught at various universities including the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas Christian University, and Tarrant County College. When Kelli was 20 years old one of her friends was murdered and that crime is still unsolved. The death of her friend and Kelli's close friendship with the sister of another murder victim drove her to write her first book, "Homicide in the Hood: Murders that Haunt a Small Town Girl." This was a collaborative effort with the victims' families, who were afforded the opportunity to contribute to the book. Kelli is working on her second book, and plans to write additional books about unsolved murders in hopes of the cases being solved. For more information about this book, the author, and updates on new projects follow her on Facebook Homicide in the H00d
