Kelly Light lives in New York but grew up down the shore in New Jersey surrounded by giant pink dinosaurs, cotton candy colors, and Skee-Ball sounds. She was schooled on Saturday-morning cartoons and Sunday funny pages. She picked up a pencil, started drawing, and never stopped. Kelly is the author/Illustrator of the Louise series. Louise Loves Art (Fall 2014) and Louise and Andie, The Art of Friendship (June 2016) are the first two books in the series. Louise and the Lucky Pencil is coming out in Fall 2017! The first in the Louise I Can Read!series is Louise Loves Bake Sales! out in 2017, as well. Another book in the works is The Smiley Family Album, a picture book about a discovered photo album which tells one family's story, generation to generation, from snapshots in sepia to Kodachrome to Polaroid to selfie. Publication is planned for fall 2018. Kelly has also illustrated Elvis and the Underdogs andElvis and the Underdogs: Secrets, Secret Service, and Room Service by Jenny Lee, and The Quirks series by Erin Soderberg. She is proud to be an International Ambassador of Creativity for The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, located in Costa Mesa in Orange County, CA. The Center is a non-profit founded by Chuck Jones, the animator, artist and director of so many of the cartoons that we think of when we just think the word "cartoon". In his lifetime, Chuck enjoyed talking to and encouraging younger artists. The center continues in this spirit to ignite creative thinking through free art classes for kids, creativity workshops, presentations and talks for kids and adults meant to inspire and enlighten.
