Dr. Kenneth H. Phillips is Professor Emeritus of The University of Iowa. An award-winning researcher and teacher in the area of child and adolescent vocal pedagogy, he is the author of four books and over 100 reviews, chapters, and professional journal articles. Professor Phillips is the recipient of three outstanding teaching awards from The University of Iowa, and is recognized by the National Association for Music Education as one of the nation’s most accomplished music educators (Teaching Music, October 2000). His choral book is cited for “raising the bar for choral music textbooks” (Choral Journal, May 2004). Dr. Phillips is the recipient of the Robert M. McCowen Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Choral Music, the highest honor given by the Iowa Choral Directors Association. He holds the Distinguished Music Alumni Award from Kent State University, and serves as an honorary board member of the Lowell Mason Foundation.
