Kenneth Ore, for 25 years, was an underground Communist member in Hong Kong. He actively recruited and coordinated hundreds of youth activists in a non-profit student organization, Hok Yau Dancing Club, which in fact, was a Communist organization. Not until the historic 1967 May Riot, did the public finally realize. Kenneth Ore has an Economics Degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, was a high school economics teacher, a well-known ballet teacher and dancer, with membership in the Royal Academy of Dance and, later, manager in foreign companies; with decadent “western” hobbies like classical music, sailing, fencing and weight lifting. His college peer described him in the College yearbook of class 1956 as “Loves classical music and ballet, because they represent beauty and gracefulness. He is a man whom love and hate, beauty and wickedness, kindness and maliciousness are clearly distinguished.” **************************************** The story in my book is not one man’s biography, it is a story of hundreds of thousands youth like me in that era. *************************************** 1973 mother was ill and was accepted into Vancouver General Hospital. My sister sent a urgent telegram; urged me to come over immediately, because mother might not be able to sustained for long. My Communist Party superior would not give permission to leave Hong Kong. I waited for few days, then I flew to Vancouver without the Party’s approval. My stay was limited to five weeks by visa. Though mother was still in Intensive Care Unit, I had to return to Hong Kong. To my great surprise, my welcoming meeting was followed by a series of struggle meetings, which at last the Party denounced within its net-work, including all my subordinates: “A traitor – collaborator with the imperialist.” For an irony reason I was kicked out. I needed to care of my parents who lived in Vancouver; in 1974 my family and I immigrated to Canada. I was and still am grateful to Canada – A true free world. My name and book in Chinese are: 柯其毅《杜鵑花之歌》. More information in Chinese on Google search.
