Kicki Hansard

Kicki Hansard was born in Swedish Lapland, the magical land of the midnight sun and the Northern Lights. She has been a doula since 2002 and one of the most renowned doulas in the UK, having been featured in several magazines, amongst them Hello, Vogue, Grazia, and Fabulous. Kicki has worked with hundreds of couples, some of them very well known, and she has trained over 1,000 doulas, not just in the UK but in Australia and China too. "The Secrets of Birth: What every woman should know about birth and motherhood" is Kicki's first book and the book was awarded the "2017 Janey Loves Platinum GOLD Award". Kicki is also a chapter contributor to the book "The Roar Behind the Silence". Kicki's latest book, "Supporting Survivors of Sexual Abuse Through Pregnancy and Childbirth: A Guide for Midwives, Doulas and Other Healthcare Professionals" was published by Singing Dragon on 21st January 2020. Kicki created the hashtag #butnotmaternity and spearheaded the campaign with the support of the BirthBliss doula community. She co-ordinated talks with MP Alicia Kearns and was interviewed on both Sky News and ITV news. The campaign grew to involve various organisations and institutions and made a huge difference to women and families during the Covid pandemic. Kicki works tirelessly to promote doulas and highlighting the difference that doulas make, recently speaking at The Baby Show at ExCel in London.
