Kurt Smith

Kurt Smith is an American philosopher. He was a Professor of Philosophy (and now a Professor Emeritus) in the Department of Philosophy at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (23 years). His scholarly work focuses on philosophical systems of the Seventeenth Century, specifically that of the French philosopher René Descartes (1596-1650). He is author of several books, journal articles, and two entries on Descartes in The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. He has participated in several workshops and summer programs sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, and has twice been a Visiting Scholar at Princeton University. He continues to teach philosophy in his new home state of Arizona. His most recent endeavors include creating a graphic novel (comic book?) fictional series about the life of Descartes.
