Kyle G. Volk is a historian of American democracy. He is a history professor at the University of Montana where he teaches courses and trains graduate students in American political, legal, social, and intellectual history. He was the 2014 recipient of the University of Montana's Helen and Winston Cox Educational Excellence Award. His first book, Moral Minorities and the Making of American Democracy (Oxford, 2014), won the 2015 Merle Curti Award, given annually by the Organization of American Historians (OAH) for Best Book in American Intellectual History. Moral Minorities also received honorable mention for the OAH's 2015 Frederick Jackson Turner Award for the Best First Book in American History.
