Laila B. Hishaw DDS

With two decades of experience, Dr. Laila B. Hishaw is an authority on children’s oral health who has dedicated her career to helping children have healthy, happy smiles through all stages of their lives. She is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry and has the distinction of Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry which places her in the elite company of less than 3% of pediatric dentists. Dr. Hishaw has been recognized as one of Tucson’s Top Dentist™ and featured on Discovery Health Channel’s “Mystery Diagnosis” for her role in diagnosing a rare neurological disorder in one of her young patients. She is an owner of Tucson Smiles Pediatric Dentistry in Tucson, Arizona and has co-authored research articles on tooth whitening in professional dental journals worldwide. Dr. Hishaw served as an Anesthesia Evaluator for the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners, during which she helped determine if dentists demonstrated the knowledge and experience required to safely sedate patients in their dental office. She enjoys every opportunity to serve in her community, furthering the public’s education on children’s oral health. She has given presentations to area health professionals, as well as lectures and presentations across the country to her fellow colleagues. As a mother of three, this “Mommy Dentist” understands both the science behind a healthy smile and the daily effort it takes to keep her kids cavity-free. Dr. Hishaw wanted to share her knowledge with other parents by writing Cavity-Free Kids: How to Care For Your Kids’ Teeth From Birth Through Their Teenage Years. Proceeds will go towards Diversity in Dentistry Mentorships, a platform founded by Dr. Hishaw to educate and empower underrepresented youth to explore dentistry as a profession through mentoring.
