Lara Mercado co-authored "Un Coquí de Boriquén con los Reyes a Belén" and "Un Coquí de Boriquén canta aquí y allá también". She has a B.A. in art history and an M.A. in journalism from the University of Puerto Rico. She lives in San Juan, Puerto Rico with her husband, Armando, her daughters, Lila Victoria and Amelia Catalina, and her dog, Vida.
