Biography Laurel Barton (1953-) was born in St. Paul, MN, but migrated to Oregon in 1987. She and her husband, Ric, became avid hikers when they discovered the glory of the Cascades and the Columbia River Gorge. In 2012, Ric and Laurel were offered the chance to move to Rome, Italy, for a tour-of-duty. In their Italian travels, they became enamored of the Dolomites, particularly the darling village of Ortisei. They retired in Rome and stayed there for almost 5 years. When traveling they seek out hikes and walks that are suitable for all: seniors, children, and anyone who wants to enjoy the mountains but not climb them. "Walking in Italy's Val Gardena" fills a niche of English-language travel information focused on hikes that almost anyone can enjoy in this special region of Italy. "Walking in Switzerland's Berner Oberland" fills a similar void in the magnificent Jungfrau Region, with 20 hikes and walks for almost anyone. Today the Barton's reside in Oregon and continue to travel to Europe. Follow their blogs at https://projecteasyhiker.com/blog/ and https://girovaga.com/.
