ABOUT LEAH URSO M.ED, author, musician and songwriter, lives and co-creates with her artist husband in the ancient, mystical town of Safed, Israel. Also known as Morah Leah, her songs and videos are loved by children and streamed throughout the world. An educator with degrees in both Elementary and Special Education, "Mattie and Mimi’s Mitzvah Club" is her first chapter book for kids, and she is already working on a sequel and a soon to be published series of Bible stories for children. Leah and her husband have also published "The Story of Purim: A Comic Book Megillah" by Yoseph and Leah Urso. His career, making animated videos for business and tech clients, and his oil painting hobby evolved into creating Jewish themed children's projects with his wife, Leah, also known as Morah Leah. Together they write and perform children's songs and make videos, books, and comics for Morah Leah Music and Morah Leah Publishing. LEAH'S STORY When I was a little girl, I knew that I wanted to be a writer. Beginning at age 7, I kept a diary and wrote in it every day. I also wrote lots of cards and letters to my grandmother, telling her about my life. She kept all of them! I loved to entertain my younger sister with stories that I made up while we lay in our bunkbeds at night. Sometimes, I would tell her scary stories (which was not very nice). At sleepovers, my friends always asked me to tell them a story. I also liked to write poems and, as a teen, I learned to play guitar and wrote songs, which are also like stories. Later, as an English teacher in Israel, I found it hard to find fiction books for kids containing Jewish characters, so I wrote Mattie and Mimi's Mitzvah Club for my students. I hope you enjoy reading it! I’m so happy that I found the perfect illustrator to draw the pictures, just as I imagined them! Perhaps you will keep a diary, like I did.
