Lee Zapis was the former president of Zapis Communications, a closely held corporation that owned and operated WZAK along with other radio stations in Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown, Ohio, as well as Atlanta and Boston. Under Lee’s guidance, the stations received numerous national broadcast awards. Zapis Communications’ stations were also nominated eight times for the Marconi award, the highest honor of the National Association of Broadcasters. After the sale of Zapis Communication’s radio stations in 1999, Lee joined forces with other family members to form Zapis Capital Group in 2003. The group’s investments span the technology, healthcare, real estate, and media industries. Above all, Zapis Capital Group invests in people and innovative ideas, providing the necessary tools, guidance, and resources to help make its investments reach their full potential. Lee is a past member of the board of directors of the American Heart Association, Cleveland Metro Division. He has also served as a mentor for the JumpStart program, an organization that assists young Northeast Ohio entrepreneurs leading high potential companies. Lee and his wife are active in many charitable causes, including the endowment of three college scholarships: The Zapis Film and Media Arts Endowed Scholarship at Cleveland State University; The “Zapis Songwriters Scholarship” at Belmont University in Nashville and the “Zapis Music Education Scholarship” at Baldwin-Wallace University.
