Leon Speroff is Professor Emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. He is known world-wide for his textbook, Clinical Gynecologic Endocrinology and Infertility, which has been translated into many languages and is now in its 9th edition. After completing his specialty training and serving in the Air Force, Dr. Speroff began his academic career at the Yale University School of Medicine. He then chaired the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Oregon, and subsequently, the Department of Reproductive Biology at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. He returned to Oregon to continue his writing and teaching. He has served as President of the American Fertility Society (now the American Society of Reproductive Medicine) and was the founding President of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists. Dr. Speroff lives in a rural area outside of Potland, Oregon, with his wife, Sen, a retired nurse-midwife.
