Leo Onyiriuba

关于作者

Leonard Onyiriuba is a leading banker and writer on banking. He has in the last decade made significant contributions to the development of banking practice in Africa. He ever seeks to proffer solutions to problems which constrain operators and stakeholders in the banking industry. This goal drives his hope to bring about positive changes in the work of bankers that affect ordinary people. As a budding author, he published "Economic Policy and Economic Development in English-Speaking Africa" (2000). He was moved to write the book by pity and anger about the deplorable situation in Africa. Yet he adopted a dispassionate stance in analyzing the underlying issues. Now he commits himself to adding value to the body of banking literature and practice, enhancing the services of banks to the public, advancing risk management in banking, and helping institutionalize sound banking culture. Onyiriuba started gaining recognition as a voice of stakeholders in African banking as he published his bestsellers: "Analyzing and Managing Risks in Bank Lending" (2004), "Drive and Tasks in Bank Marketing" (2008), "Dictionary and Language of Banking" (2010), "Credit Risk: Taming a Hotbed of Reckless Banking" (2013), and "Banking Processing Risks and Control" (2014). Onyiriuba is now a respected voice of banking beyond Africa. His latest book, "Emerging Market Bank Lending and Credit Risk Control: Evolving Strategies to Mitigate Credit Risk, Optimize the Lending Portfolios, and Check Delinquent Loans" (2015) - published by Elsevier Inc. - gives his writing a wider and international perspective. Onyiriuba holds BSc (first class honours, 1986) Business administration, marketing option, and MBA finance (1990) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He started a career in banking in 1991 after a stint as a lecturer in the university. As a banker, he was at various times Group Head (Commercial Banking), Regional Director (Lagos, Nigeria), Divisional Director (Corporate Banking), and member of Executive Management. Presently, he runs a financial consultancy in Lagos, Nigeria - with a commitment to helping clients succeed. He leads a team of enthusiasts for the latest business, finance and banking thinking. The team helps clients build best practice knowledge, institutionalize sound culture, manage risk well, and create value. Onyiriuba also works for the cause of social change. He especially welcomes and works on projects that seek to assist individuals, companies, and organizations to re-invent enterprise, unlock potential, discover possibilities, and find key to success. Specialties: Researching and writing on emerging market and developing economy banking; and training and consulting on finance and banking in Africa.
