He is active in three graduate programs: the Graduate Program in Accounting (PPGC), the Graduate Program in Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer for Innovation (PROFNIT), and the Graduate Program in University Administration. He has passed three public service entrance exams and serves as a professor (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels) at UFSC, holding a CNPq PQ2 Scientific Productivity Scholarship. He was a Senior Visiting Professor at the University of Lisbon (Portugal). To date, he has received 80 national and international awards, published 12 books, 139 articles in scientific journals, and over 180 articles in national and international scientific conferences. His YouTube channel, Prof. Dr. Leonardo Flach, featuring over 1,300 science-related video lectures, has achieved a milestone of over 1 million views. He has served as a visiting professor and invited researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT/USA) (ranked the best university in the world by the Times Higher Education), the University of Lisbon, and Ludwig Maximilians Universität München (LMU Munich, Germany), recognized as Germany's top university by Best Global Universities U.S. News and the Times Higher Education ranking. He has held leadership positions, including Coordinator of the Graduate Program in University Management (UFSC), Vice-Coordinator of the PROFNIT Graduate Program, Research Coordinator of the Socioeconomic Center, President of the UFSC Congress on Controllership and Finance, member of UFSC’s Research Council, and member of UFSC's Permanent Culture Commission. He was a recipient of the CNPq Human Resources Retention Scholarship - Level A (2020-2021), an ad hoc reviewer for research funding agencies such as CNPq and FAPESC, and a peer reviewer for leading academic events in Brazil and abroad, including the AAA Congress (USA), EAA Congress (Europe), EnANPAD, ANPCONT, and the Brazilian Congress of Costs. Ph.D. in Business Administration from UFRGS (CAPES 7, the highest rating), with a sandwich doctoral fellowship at Freie Universität Berlin (Germany). During his undergraduate studies, he spent two semesters studying Economics at the University of Dortmund (Germany) and interned at HL-Planartechnik GmbH in Dortmund. He received the Edmon Nader Award for best undergraduate thesis. His publications include articles in renowned conferences and journals rated A1 and A2. As an artist, he participated in the recording of 16 CDs and 2 DVDs, created 18 musical arrangements, recorded 3 soundtracks for short films, served as cello section leader (spalla) and soloist for orchestras, conducted statewide and international tours, and was a founding member of the Camerata Florianópolis Orchestra, where he performed for 10 years and led the cello section for 5 years. In 2012, he won 1st Place in the National Jabuti Prize (Brazilian Book Chamber) in the Administration, Economics, and Business category, for a book chapter based on his doctoral dissertation. Proficient in English (TOEFL), German (DSH), Spanish, and with basic knowledge of French, his current research interests include Quantitative Methods Applied to Accounting and Finance, Auditing, Econometrics, Capital Markets, Smart Cities, and Cooperatives. He serves as a reviewer for journals such as the Journal of International Business and Economy, Revista de Administração Pública, and Revista Base de Administração e Contabilidade. Completing his postdoctoral research at MIT/USA, regarded as the world’s best university by Times Higher Education, was a significant milestone in his career. Currently, he is the coordinator of the NETEC research group (certified by CNPq since 2002), Vice-Coordinator of the PROFNIT Graduate Program, and a professor in the PPGAU and PPGC graduate programs.
