Lerato Mogoatlhe is a South African journalist and author who has been writing about Africa for more than ten years as part of her vision to rewrite the continent’s narratives. Vagabond is a result of her deep-seated love for Africa, from her childhood obsession with ancient Egypt to discovering African literature as a teenage and centring her identity around the continent's cultures, music, art and fashion. Vagabond is an account of how a planned three-month break to West Africa turns into living around the continent for five years. "Whatever else Africa is, this continent is firstly and most importantly home: I have to know it intimately," she says about her insatiable wanderlust for Africa.
