"The Eagle and the Dragon, A Novel of Rome and China" is Lewis McIntyre's first full length novel, taking takes the reader on an epic 17,000 mile journey through three continents in 100AD, following the first Roman diplomatic mission to China, a story of action, adventure, greed, deceit and love. Lewis' first foray into the world of literature was the short story "Come, Follow Me, A Story of Pilate and Jesus", a look at that first Easter weekend through the eyes of Pontius Pilate. How did the Roman governor feel about what he had done, and why did he do what he clearly didn't want to do? He also has a non-fiction military history, "Take Charge and Move Out: The Founding Fathers of TACAMO," how one significant commanding officer, and a handful of junior officers who grasped the man's vision, created that aviation community from scratch in the 1970s. This book is published by Casemate Publishers. His most recent book is "Riding on a Light Beam: Visualizing Relativity." This book takes a whole new view of Einstein's Special Theory, by examining how locate a moving object in time and space. The moving object must emit light for us to observe it. But that time of transmission is Doppler shifted by the relative motion to a later and later time with increasing velocity, and it is from this time of observation that the measurement is made. Thus it is the time of observation, and subsequent measurement, that is affected by the relative velocity, and not the moving object's clocks and rulers. This simple paradigm shift completely simplifies the Special Theory. Lewis' literary background is unusual: an engineer who can actually write! He graduated from the US Naval Academy with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering, and got his MS in the same field from the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. He spent his Navy career flying various aircraft until retiring in 1990. He then began a second career as a civilian contractor for the Navy, retiring from that in 2020 to pursue a writing full time. He has a passion for history and loves historical fiction that brings the past to life, putting the reader in a time machine back to a time like our own, but also so very different. He is a member of the Historical Writers' of America (MWA). the Maryland Writers' Association (MWA) and is vice president of the Charles County chapter of the MWA. He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Association of Physics Teachers.
