I, Lilia Ermlich, am Brazilian, an agricultural engineer and have a PhD in plant physiology. After my PhD, I realized that my strengths and interests are in education and communication. Therefore, I started my postdoctoral work with a research group in biochemistry that integrates science and education. In this research group, scientific language was made easily understandable and communicated to young people, students, and the general public. During this time, I learned the form of "non-formal" education and became enthusiastic about alternative forms of education, which I applied in a science museum and in various summer courses. I now live in Heidelberg (Germany) and organise experimental science workshops for children. These are primarily based on the model, where children are encouraged to get to the bottom of exciting questions and discover the world around them, allowing children to develop curiosity and promoting their ability to think on their own. The books I publish are based on the themes and experiments of the children's workshops. In the books, the main characters Pia and Hassan, who, as in the workshops, present a problem and invite the children to solve the mysteries. Furthermore, I am very creative and illustrate my books myself based on the interests and feelings of the children during the workshop activities. It is my passion to introduce the children to science by awakening their curiosity in different life situations.
