Liz Crain

Liz Crain is a fiction writer as well as the author of Dumplings Equal Love: Delicious Recipes from Around the World (Sasquatch Books 2020) and Food Lover's Guide to Portland (Hawthorne Books 2014). She is coauthor of the forthcoming cookbook Fermenter: DIY Fermentation for Vegan Fare (Sasquatch Books Sept. 2023 AVAILABLE NOW FOR PREORDER), Toro Bravo: Stories. Recipes. No Bull. (McSweeney's 2013), Hello! She is also the editor of True Portland: The Unofficial Guide for Creative People (Hawthorne Books 2017). A longtime writer on Pacific Northwest food and drink, her writing has appeared in Lucky Peach, The Believer, Food and Wine, The Sun Magazine, The Progressive and The Guardian. She is also a seasoned copywriter, co-organizer of the annual Portland Fermentation Festival and former editor and publicity director at Hawthorne Books.
