
Lois Griffin Powell grew up in Milford, Connecticut. She attended Hampton University and Southern Connecticut State University where she graduated. When she married she moved to Bay Shore, Long Island, New York. She received her Master’s Degree in Writing and taught writing in Babylon, Long Island, New York. Her husband is a retired principal. They have two sons, one daughter, and five grandchildren. When she retired, she and her husband moved to Locust Grove, VA in 2003 at Lake of the Woods which had been a vacation home for them. Four of her poems were published by The International Poetry Society in their poetry anthologies. She has written articles for local newspapers. She loves writing all types of stories but especially children’s stories. She is a member of the Windmore Foundation for the Arts, The Professional Writers Alliance, and Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She enjoys playing tennis, golf, swimming, reading and, of course, writing.
