Lucille Campey is a leading expert on early immigration to Canada from the British Isles. In her books she describes the circumstances of the actual settlers, their sea crossings and the communities they founded. She has written a total of fourteen books on the subject – eight dealing with immigration from Scotland, three from England and three from Ireland. Lucille was born in Ottawa, Canada and is a chemistry graduate of Ottawa University. She moved to England after marrying her husband, Geoff. She later entered the world of politics when she became an adviser to a cabinet minister during the John Major years. An ongoing love of history led her into another world around twenty-five years ago. Having obtained a PhD on Scottish immigration to Canada from the University of Aberdeen, she went on to develop her writing career. In 2016 she was awarded the prestigious Prix du Quebec by the Quebec government in recognition of her ongoing contribution to Canadian immigration studies. Lucille and Geoff live near Salisbury in England.
