M J Pfiffner

M. J. Pfiffner is an artist, teacher, and writer living in Dubuque, Iowa and with over twenty years of experience working with a diverse range of students. This unique perspective has shaped his approach to both cultivating creative ideas and teaching. Passionate about exploring new places, raising exotic pets, and embracing adventure, he brings a vibrant, imaginative spirit to his writing. As he often says, “Your only limitation is your imagination.” The journey to writing my first novel has been a long time coming, inspired by ideas that have been bouncing around in my mind since the late 1990s. It wasn’t until December 2009, during three consecutive snow days, that I finally decided to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and begin the adventure. Initially, I wasn’t sure how far I’d go or if I’d even finish, but once I started, I couldn’t stop. In just three months, the rough draft of Book 1 was complete. That momentum carried me through writing Books 2 and 3, and even starting Book 4, which now has four chapters written and a full outline. Even my own drawings and paintings since the beginning have been consumed with this storyline and characters. I am planning if there is a book 2 that I will create all the artwork myself for the inside of the book. But as much as I’ve enjoyed creating this world and its characters, I realized it was time to share Book 1 with readers before moving forward. And so, here we are. Another driving force behind this novel was my desire to write something that would captivate young readers, especially those who claim they "hate reading." I wanted to craft a story that grabs their imagination, keeps them turning the pages, and perhaps even inspires a love of books. This mission, combined with my passion for storytelling, led to the creation of my debut novel.
