I won’t try to sell you on the idea that I have always wanted to be an author. The truth is that I have always loved writing. When I was younger, I wanted to be a lot of things, everything from a vet to a doctor to a lawyer to a teacher, but the thought of being an author rarely crossed my mind. As I grew, so too did my love of writing and storytelling. But we all know what happens to children who want to be things like artists, performers, and writers... they are told their dream isn’t realistic and shoved back toward more practical careers. And so, I have spent a portion of my adult life striving for that all-too-important sensible career choice, but writing keeps calling me back to it. At the age of 25, I finally sat down and wrote one very messy book that slowly took shape to become my debut book, Survivor. Now I am determined to live the life that I always dreamed of, crafting stories and building worlds from the ground up. I have been asked where the inspiration for my books comes from, and that is a heavy question. I tend to take inspiration from the things around me and from the nightmares that sometimes plague my sleep. I like to focus on character-driven stories and spend a great deal of time just watching people and how they interact with one another. I am 27 now and live in upstate New York with my husband, our two wonderful daughters, and four very energetic huskies. During my free time I enjoy hiking, drawing, and spending time with the people that I love. I don’t plan to stop writing anytime soon and am excited to continue on my path as an indie author.
