M. Rafiquzzaman obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in Canada in 1974. He worked for Esso/Exxon and Bell Northern Research for approximately 5 years. Dr. Rafiquzzaman joined the Computer and Electrical Engineering Department in March 1978. He was Chair of the Department during the 80's. Dr. Rafiquzzaman was also an adjunct professor of Electrical Engineering Systems at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He consulted for Arco, Rockwell, Los Angeles County and Parsons Corporation in the areas of Computer Applications. From 1984 to 1989, he was the instructor for Motorola in Southern California teaching short courses on 68000, 68020 and 68030 for various local aerospace industries including Northrop, Boeing, Lockheed and McDonnell Douglas. M. Rafiquzzaman, Ph.D., P.E, is currently a Professor Emeritus at the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California. Professor Rafiquzzaman has over 50 years of academic and industrial experience. He has authored 19 books (including all editions) on digital logic, microprocessors, microcontrollers, and computer architecture. His first popular book on microprocessors was published by Wiley in 1982 and his other books are published by Wiley, Prentice-Hall, CRC Press, Harper & Row, and West Publishing. Dr. Rafiquzzaman was an advisor to the President of Bangladesh on computers during the 80's. Dr. Rafiquzzaman is a member of the US Olympic committee. He managed Swimming, Diving, and Synchronized Swimming events of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee. He is currently President of Rafi Systems Inc., a high tech cataract lens manufacturing company in California.
