MARCELO E. MADAN 1944, Santiago de Cuba. It comes from Afro-Cuban family of deep roots religious. Son of Obatala (1951). Awo of Orunmila "Ifa Sure" (1992), Godson of Ruben Pineda (Ejiogbè). His paternal grandfather Eligio Madan "Ifanlá" son of a slave and native Jovellanos in the province of Matanzas, Cuba. His maternal grandmother María Belén Madan Hernandez a famous native Santera of the city of Havana and daughter of Obatala. His father Madan Eligio Hernandez awo of Orunmila and son of Oshun. His maternal grandmother famous santera of Santiago in the early the forties and fifties Rosa Torrez "Sango Gumí "who along with the famous santero also a child of Sango Reinerio Perez, Amada Sanchez and Aurora Lamar (La China), the famous oriate Liberato, and other undertake the first settlement of Orishas to some people in that city, a granddaughter of Ma Braulia freedoms coming from Africa. A very early age he studied electricity in the School of Arts and Office of the City home and in 1978 graduated from the ISPJAE with electrical engineering degree, while there also developed in music and Afro-Cuban dance. In the early 1980’s holds the positions of director of Science and Technology and later as Vice-President and specialist as a technical specialist of industry tool production and musical ministry of culture of Cuba. Left Cuba in 1999 bound for Venezuela seeking new opportunities for development of his ideas and with their religious activities, manages to establish in this country, the company that Orunmila Investment then converted to "Editions Recordings Orunmila and Distributions ", which quickly reaches a top place among the editors to spread the culture of traditional African Venezuela. He achieved with his talent transnational scope with his company. Now he divides his activities between his homes in the United States, Brazil, and Venezuela. Today has written several books dealing with Ifa and Santeria in Cuba, among which are: literary collection of "Tratados de los Odu Ifa," Sintesis de los Odu de Ifa”, “Manual de bolsillo para Santeros”, “Comida y Adimú para los Santos”, “Las 101 Ewé de Ozain en el cuarto de Santo”, "Oráculo de Ifá de bolsillo”, Los Oráculos de los Orishas” and Dictionary- Introduction to the Yoruba language, has developed and directed several new audio visual works among which are the works: "Havana-Caracas-Salvador" and "Shango King of Kings". He is president of Issues Orunmila in Venezuela, the United States and Brazil. Based on the view that: Ifa is unique and universal, is working hard on together with many other researchers of culture Afro-Cuban and African, to educate all the Americas, the integration of both trends, the traditional call Ifa Africa, and to be studied and practiced in America. He has written several articles on Santeria from a scientific point of view and has also taught conferences on these issues.
