Dr. María Calixta Ortiz-Rivera is a Latina born in Puerto Rico. Dr. Ortiz is an epidemiologist and professional neurocoach in health and wellness. She teaches research courses for master degree and was the former dean of the School of Environmental Affairs at Universidad Ana G. Méndez, San Juan campus, where she has worked for more than 39 years. She became professional editor in 2007 and has been editor-in-chief of La Regata newspaper (1999-2017) and the founder of Perspectivas en Asuntos Ambientales journal (2012-2022). She is a columnist for the newspaper El Nuevo Día on issues of public health, environment and well-being. She was awarded the Kika de la Garza Award in 2019, by the federal Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC. She is the author of the book De meno odiosa a Meno Diosa, dare to feel free, divine and happy, which aspires to transform women by honoring female complicity and solidarity in the menopausal stage. María Calixta is an ambassador for women.
