Marc Latilla was born in Johannesburg in South Africa in 1973. His first book 'Johannesburg Then and Now' was released in October 2018 by Penguin Random House. It's a historic look at the golden city juxtaposing archive photos (1899-1950) with recent photos taken by photojournalist Yeshiel Panchia with Marc's accompanying research on each subject. Penguin SA tracked Marc down via his website www.johannesburg1912.com - a growing suburb-by-suburb history of the city that also includes other fascinating research on the history of trams, churches, and theatres of the city. When not reading, researching and writing about Johannesburg, he works in the music industry and occasionally DJs. He currently lives in Melville, Johannesburg with his wife and two boys.
