Dr. Plews-Ogan is a general internist practicing in the United States. After graduation from college, before entering Harvard Medical School, she and her husband lived and worked on a sheep farm in Cornwall. There they learned about the importance of community, and their instincts for helping in times of crisis were challenged with helping the sick lambs survive the harsh spring in Cornwall. Her work has been focused on how to help people survive and thrive in the face of adversity. She is currently Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia, and Director of the Center for Appreciative Practice. She researches how people develop wisdom, and how to foster wisdom in both patients and doctors.
