María was born in Uruguay where she completed elementary and part of high school. His family lived in a small town, but over the years his family was separated by the tragic death of his mother, and previously two brothers. So, this family was truncated. His father, a landowner, in good economic position, was separated from his children, by fate. María travelled to the city of Montevideo, where she met Manuel, and there they married. Three children were born, two girls and a boy, Nelly, Sergio, and Lillián. When the children were teenagers they travelled to Australia, where they currently live, and there their family extended to six Australian grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. María continued to study ceramics, crafts, oil painting, and porcelain at TAFE College, under the guidance of many great mentors in Australia. María has travelled extensively in Australia, from east to west, north, and south, across the desert. In these various trips, Maria developed a great respect and admiration for nature and arid areas of the desert. She has also admired the beautiful mountain ranges like the Flinders’ Ranges, the great Ayer’s Rock, the Olgas in Alice Springs, the Blue Mountains in Sydney, the majestic Three Sisters, ravines, caverns, and other wonders in Australia.
